Lecture: "Changes in the Definition of 'Design'  -- the 19th ~ the 21st century"

Lecturer: FUJITA Haruhiko, Professor, Graduate School of Letters, Osaka University
It was the 16th century when the words such as "design" and "dessin" came to be often used. These words gained significance after the Industrial Revolution and led to a "battle" over these words in the 19th century. Now, we can see the English word "design" used in names of art schools in France; thus, "design" has become an internationally important word. This seminar will focus on the internationalization and extended concept of the word "design."
