2010 Osaka Workshop on Digital Humanities

The spread of computers and the Internet as an information media has made possible the application of digital technology to the field of humanities and has, thereby, created an interdisciplinary field called "digital humanities."
This workshop is a beginners' course for researchers and students in liberal art courses. The workshop consists of lectures and hands-on practice and will be held from Saturday, March 20 to Monday, March 22, 2010.
This workshop will demonstrate techniques and resources with concrete examples including problems in digitizing data on humanities and text analysis using computers. The workshop will also touch on digitization techniques and methodology.
During hands-on practice, practical training such as data coding, data formatting and analysis, and text mining by using tools and techniques introduced in the lectures will be conducted.
