Seminars & Symposiums

2nd Symposium of the Osaka University Global COE Program -- Creating Future Engineering based on Cognitive Neuroscience

2010-3-26 (Fri) 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Science, Technology

In our highly mechanized information society, it can be said that we are making technological progress in the pursuit of convenience without paying enough attention to overall features of the human brain. Massive amounts of information flow through networks and in increasingly sophisticated and convenient products such as cars and mobile phones, these rapid developments in mechanization and information flow impose a great burden on the human brain, on the developing brains of children through to those of adults and the elderly. This situation risks making people less human.
In order to lead the modern society in a healthier direction while coping with such problems, this program aims to nurture a field in which cognitive science and robotics merge with brain science, thereby giving birth to a more human-friendly machine-information interface system.
This symposium will provide attendees with the chance to listen to presentations by and discussions among outstanding researchers and young energetic researchers from four related research fields: (1) cognitive brain systems, (2) cognitive science and brain science combined research, (3) brain science and engineering combined research, and (4) cognitive brain system development research.
