Japanese-Swedish Translation Seminar -- "Om att översätta och översättarens arbete" [Translation and Translators' Work]

Translators are active in various fields from translating literary works, academic and technological documents, to subtitling movies and TV programs. Translators generally translate from a second language to their mother tongue. Becoming a translator requires a good general education and advanced language skills. Specialists in translating into Swedish will be invited to our seminar on Tuesday, December 22, to deliver lectures on translation techniques and tools.

  • 10:15 - 10:15 -- Introduction of seminar objectives and lecturers by SHIMIZU Ikuo, Professor, Osaka University
  • 10:15 - 10:45 -- "Att skriva skonlitterara texter" [Writing Literary Works] by Henrik Pettersson, Author
  • 10:45 -11:15 -- "Translation of Literary Works" by SUGAWARA Kunishiro, Professor emeritus, Osaka University
  • 11:15 - 11:45 -- "Translation of Non-fiction -- Comparison with Literary Works" by AGEKURA Ayuko, Lecturer, TOKAI Univeristy
  • 11:45 - 12:15 -- "Interpretation and Translation in Swedish" by HIDA Junko, Graduate of Osaka University

The symposium will be in Swedish and Japanese.
