The 18th Indo-European Colloquium

The 18th Indo-European Colloquium (The 166th Open Lectures of The Osaka Institute for Linguistic Studies, The 84th Machikaneyama Linguistics Association) will be held on Saturday, December 19. Individuals interested in Indo-European Comparative linguistics or the history of the layers in Indo-European languages are cordially welcome to these lectures.

  • Date & Time: Saturday, December 19, 2009 -- from 1:30 p.m., Registration
  • Venue: Kaitokudo for the 21st Century (on Toyonaka Campus)
  • Admission fee: ¥500
  • Fee for after-colloquium party: ¥3,000

The organizers of this colloquium would appreciate early registration if at all possible. Doing so will be a help in matters such as preparing materials for distribution. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.

 

Program 

  • 2:00 p.m. -- Opening greetings by SUZUKI Seiichi, professor at Kansai Gaidai University
  • 2:10 p.m. -- Lecture 1 -- "Lalyngale and Schwa in Indo-European Languages" by KAMIYAMA Takao, professor at Graduate School of Letters
  • 3:30 p.m. -- Break
  • 3:40 p.m. -- Lecture 2 --"Gramatical Person in Indo-European Languages" by CHIGUSA Shinichi, Graduate School of Arts and Letters, Tohoku University
  • 5:30 p.m. -- Closing remarks by YOSHIOKA Jiro, professor emeritus at Kobe Kaisei College
  • 5:30 p.m. -- After-colloquium party (COOP restaurant, 3rd floor)
