Citizen Forum: Life style and oral care for a healthy long life

2009-6-7 (Sun) 2:30 p.m. -

As the population grows older in Japan, interest is growing in not merely having a long life, but in having a healthy long life.

This forum will address the above theme from a variety of angles.

WATANABE Katsutoshi, heading Medical Care Renaissance at Yomiuri News will chair the forum from a journalist's viewpoint. He will also deliver a speech on medical care for a healthy long life viewed from the average citizen's standpoint.

MORIMOTO Kanehisa, a professor at Osaka University Faculty of Medicine, researching the effects of various sources of stress on our health, will deliver a speech on the life style necessary for being healthy in body and mind. That is to say, once one loses one's teeth and experiences difficulty eating and swallowing, the quality of one's life deteriorates.

AKAGAWA Yasumasa, a professor at Hiroshima University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will deliver a lecture on the relationship between prostheses and healthy long life. That is, "Do prostheses such as bridges or false teeth permit people to eat well and have a long healthy life?"
