Event to Commemorate the Completion of Osaka University Whiskey

As part of personnel development in collaboration with industry, through full coordination with Suntory Liquors Limited, Osaka University has proceeded with the student-initiative project "Whiskey Development Project" since last year.

Through this project, Osaka University's original whiskey MIBUKI has been completed, and to celebrate this occasion, we will be holding an event to commemorate its completion and introduce the newly created whiskey.
During this event, we will take a look back at the relationship between OU and Japanese whiskey while talking with guests who have been involved in whiskey production at Suntory for quite a while.

Following the project team's talk about the true story behind this project, participants will taste the newly-finished whiskey. To Osaka University graduates, current students, faculty and staff, please join us if you are at all interested! The general public is also invited to attend this event.

Intended for: OU graduates, current students, faculty and staff, as well as the general public

There is no charge for attending this event.
Minors can participate in Part 1 and Part 2.

Space is limited to 200 attendees (Registration is needed. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.)

On the day of the event, please be advised that when the main venue has reached capacity, we will begin directing guests to a satellite venue (Lecture Room 703, 7F, Nakanoshima Center, Osaka University).

Part 1: Mini-lecture and talk "Japanese Whiskey and Osaka University" (temporary title)

Guest: SHIMATANI Yukio

After graduating from the Department of Fermentation Engineering, School of Engineering, Osaka University in 1954, Mr. Shimatani joined the Kotobukiya company (currently Suntory) in 1956. He served as a director at Yamazaki Distillery, the first factory director at Hakushu Distillery, a factory manager at Yamazaki Distillery, and a director at Suntory Holdings Limited.
