Handai Boat will join the annual Funatogyo.

Funatogyo is the climax of the Osaka Tenjin Festival, one of the three big festivals in Japan. In Funatogyo, about 100 elaborately-designed boats go up and down the big river. This year will be the fifth time for Osaka University to join this festival. The Handai boat will be given a new appearance and set afloat on the big river, adding to the atmosphere and the enjoyment of the onlookers and citizens. Handai family members --faculty, staff, students and alumni-- please board the boat and enjoy this seasonal tradition of Osaka to the fullest!

Date: July 25 (Saturday), 2009

Time: 6:00 p.m. - around 9:00 p.m.

Time appointed for meeting: 5:30 p.m.

Place to board: Okawa Hishobashi (Near JR Sakuranomiya Station or Miyakojima Station on Tanimachi Subway Line)

Fare: 30,000 yen per person

* Food and drink is included. Transfer fee is excluded. The boat has portable toilets.

* A family discount is available--20,000 yen per person

Capacity: 170 people (If the number of persons wanting to board exceeds the capacity, boarders will be chosen by lots.)

Deadline: June 8 (Monday)
