ISHIGURO Hiroshi and HIRATA Oriza talk about a Robot Drama

A robot drama project has been launched aiming to "Robots which will move people's hearts." The achievements of the project were demonstrated in the multi-purpose studio at Kaitokudo for the 21st Century, Osaka University, on November 25, 2008. This project was planned and implemented in cooperation from the Center for the Study of Communication-Design (CSCD) as part of practical exercises by graduate schools in collaboration with businesses.

The drama, performed by two communication robots named "Wakamaru" and professional actors, surprised and deeply moved the audience. It was covered by Asahi News and broadcast on NHK.

In the upcoming lecture, two professors behind this project will talk while watching part of the video recording the performance. The professors are ISHIGURO Hiroshi, an Osaka University Graduate School of Engineering Science professor, the technical advisor for this project and famous as a world-class robot researcher, and HIRATA Oriza, an Osaka University CSCD professor, a script writer and stage director, and the person who wrote the drama's script and stage-managed it. They will talk about the relationship between robot technology and art, the essence of communication, the future of humans and robots, and other topics for two hours. This is sure to be interesting--don't miss it!
