Employment of staff through Osaka University employment examinations

Osaka University staff employment examinations

In addition to the standardized Semi-privatized University Employment Examination used in the Kansai region, a new employment examination will be employed for Osaka University staff in order to promote the employ of individuals possessing a variety of abilities and characteristics.

In April 2004 the legal status of national universities was changed to semi-privatized in order to increase independent management and make the universities more unique and attractive. The change stresses independent management for national universities under their president's leadership. Thus, staff roles are also changing greatly. Before the legal change in status to a national university corporation, staff were national public officers. After the legal change, staff are now expected to play roles in the administration, management, and public relations of the university.

Amid ongoing globalization, university internationalization -- enrolling competent students, faculty, and researchers, both from Japan and abroad, and enhancing the level of education and research at the university -- become even more crucial. Therefore, internationally minded clerical staff able to respond to such needs with flexibility are needed.

In order to respond to these needs, Osaka University is therefore implementing a new staff employment examination in order to enhance the employ of staff possessing willingness, passion, and potential to play crucial roles in the future of Osaka University.

Osaka University looks forward to welcoming such staff.
