Osaka University Future Funds Scholarship
In order to lend a helping hand to incoming undergraduate students, Osaka University has established a new scholarship -- a grant for a portion of school expenses necessary at the time of admission. This new scholarship has started since April 2011.
*In the 2011-2012 academic year, 250,000 yen per person was granted to 40 students.
The details of the Osaka University Future Funds Scholarship are as follows:
Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to incoming undergraduates who achieved an excellent record on the First Stage Individual Achievement Examination and whose family meets specified family income criteria.
Family income criteria
The income of the main provider for the previous year must meet one of the following:
- Salaried workers: Statement of earnings, including applicable taxes, is 9.63 million yen or less.
- Non-salaried workers: Total earnings for the final income tax report, including applicable taxes, is 4.77 million yen or less.
Making application: After publicizing the numbers of the successful new incoming students, students eligible for this scholarship will be informed regarding how they may apply.
Amount of grant: 250,000 yen (lump-sum grant at the time of admission)
Number of recipients: about 40
Application period: Mid-March to late March 2011
Announcement of screening results for receipt of scholarship: Early April 2011
Note: Due to the fact that the budget for this scholarship is limited, it may not be possible to honor the applications of all applicants applying for this financial assistance.
This scholarship will be conducted as part of projects by Osaka University Future Funds.
General Education Curriculum Scholarship
- Osaka University General
Education Curriculum Scholarship was
established in 2005 to support second-year students who have achieved
an excellent record in the liberal arts. About 50 students are granted 200,000 to 250,000 yen per person as study grant.

Osaka University Foundation for the Future
Osaka University Foundation for the Future was set up in May 2009 for the purpose of establishing financial foundation so that the University can maintain and promote education, research, social contribution, and international exchange programs. This system has been supported by many alumni, local people, and businesses since its founding.
Based on the principle that the funds are for supporting students, we will provide this scholarship. We will continue to support research activities and student life proactively.
