Lodge at Hakuba
Osaka
University has a lodge at Hakuba-mura, Kitaazumi-gun, Nagano Prefecture. Located near the foot of the Northern Alps in Chubu-Sangaku National
Park, the area surrounding the lodge is a scenic wonderland, captivating
people with its severe but beautiful nature. From spring to autumn
it is a world of natural beauty and pastoral charm; in winter, it is a silver wonderland of snow.
This facility is open all year
long and can be used for activities such as skiing, mountaineering, and sightseeing. Students are invited to use it for laboratory seminars,
club training, workshops, and more.

Getting there takes about 6 hours from Osaka. (The lodge is a 15-minute walk from Kamishiro Station on the JR Oito Line. The nearest ski slopes are a 5-minute walk from the lodge.)

Access from Osaka to Kamishiro: Shin-Osaka --(Shinkansen bullet train)-- Nagoya --(Change to "Wide view Shinano")-- Matsumoto --(JR Oito Line)-- Shinano Omachi -- Kamishiro.
Groups can use the lodge for: a maximum of 7
consecutive nights. An additional 3 nights is possible when circumstances warrant.
Check-in/check-out: Daily excepting Wednesdays.

Note: Fees paid cannot be refunded. However, in situations in which inclement weather prevents you from staying, fees paid will be refunded.
Terms of usage: The basic rule at the lodge is: persons staying at the lodge take care of themselves. The lodge is not a hotel or inn; you make your beds, cook your food, etc. Facilities and equipment are provided for you to use. For additional information, please download and read the Notice on Use.
How to apply: Application may be made one month to 7 days
prior to the first day you intend to use the lodge.

Applications for use during times such as the summer holidays are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please check with the KOAN web site or the
bulletin boards at the Student Centers as needed.
Applications accepted:
9:30 a.m. ~ 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding national
holidays and year-end and New Year holidays)
