Support Programs for Osaka University Students studying abroad

If you want to do something while you are a student, why don't you study abroad?

Osaka University supports studying abroad through the promotion of various programs including an overseas program designed to provide credits from universities with exchange agreements with Osaka University. It's urgent that Japan develop professionals able to function on the international scene so that Japan can play an important role in international society. To that end, the significance not only of studying abroad and involving oneself in education and research in another country, but also of experiencing a different culture while enhancing one's proficiency in a foreign language cannot be underestimated.

Osaka University Aid for Student Exchange Programs

Acceptance of applications for the 2011-2012 year's program has finished.

The International Exchange Program is for full-time students of schools and graduate schools of Osaka University. Students in this program are given the chance to study and conduct research at overseas universities with student exchange agreements with Osaka University for one semester or longer--up to a maximum of one year. These exchange agreement specify that students enrolled in their home university are not charged tuition fees at the overseas university; they receive the status of a student at that university and the credits earned are transferable to their home university (in this case, Osaka University).

The student exchange agreements are of two types: university-to-university and school-to-school. The recruitment of students wishing to join such student exchange programs is conducted according to the following guidelines. Short-term language study programs

University of Essex Summer Language Study Program -- Applications for the 2011-2012 year's program can no longer be made. Recruitment for the 2012-2013 program will begin in April 2012.

  • International exchange subject: Experiencing the Cultural Environment of the UK

This is an English Study Program in which students study at University of Essex, UK for five weeks, from the end of August to the end of September. This is an ideal program for those wishing to learn academic English and take the English ability test IELTS in the UK.

Moreover, participants who successfully complete the basic course "Experiencing the Cultural Environment of the UK" as outlined in the syllabus can receive academic credit based on the grade they receive.

Monash University Spring Language Study Program

  • International exchange subject: Experiencing the Cultural Environment of Australia

Acceptance of applications for the 2011-2012 year's program has finished. Applications for the 2012-2013 year's program will be accepted around October 2012.

This is an English Study Program in which students study at Monash University, Australia, for 4 weeks, from February to March. This is a program for those wishing to learn academic English, a great way for preparing for subsequent long-term study abroad.

Moreover, participants who successfully complete the basic course "Experiencing the Cultural Environment of Australia" as outlined in the syllabus can receive academic credit based on the grade they receive.
