Financial Aid for Student Exchange Programs
Financial aid for participants in school exchange programs is as follows.
Participants meeting requirements can apply. Osaka University screens to select recipient candidates for financial aid from Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and Osaka University Financial Aid for Student Exchange Programs (in-coming). Applications are accepted twice a year. After the student exchange program has started, applications for that program will not be accepted.
Short-term programs supported by JASSO
Monthly amount of aid or loan: 80,000 yen
Financial support period: period approved by Osaka University (up to 12 months)
Osaka University Financial Aid for Student Exchange Programs (in-coming)
Monthly amount of financial aid or loan: 80,000 yen
Financial support period: period approved by Osaka University from September 2012 to March 2013 (up to 6 months)
Note: Amount of financial aid or loan may change due to limitations to the government budget. Details will be informed to successful candidates.

How to apply
In making online preliminary application, select “Yes” to the question "Are you applying for financial aid?" (This step is only possible after you have been admitted to the program by your home university/school and Osaka University has sent you a password and other information.)
Documents to be submitted
- Certificate of enrollment Form: JASSO -- only applicants for short-term student exchange programs
These certificates are needed to certify, in a specified JASSO form, that applicants are enrolled in their university or institute as regular students and that the date of graduation will be later than the end of the exchange program. After completing the online preliminary application, print the application form and have it signed by the exchange student program staff or education affairs staff of your university and submit it.
Application forms for financial aid must be submitted with application form for exchange program. Application deadline, office to which forms to be submitted, and date on which you will receive notification for application for financial aid are the same as those for screening of applicants.

Make application to: The school of your choice
Required documents from the school you wish to attend:
- Application form for exchange program based on Osaka University School-to-School Exchange Agreement (specified form)
- Statement of purpose (specified form)
- Learning plan (specified form)
Transcript (from your current school)
- The transcript must include the names of subjects you took, your school year, your scores and the number of credits you earned.
- The method of evaluation score must be included in the transcript.
- The transcript must be written in English or other language with translation into English or Japanese.
- Graduate students must also submit their undergraduate transcript.
An additional document needed
A certificate of enrollment for short-term exchange program (form 3-3)
This certificate is needed to certify, in a specified form, that applicants are enrolled in their university or institute as regular students and that the date of graduation will be later than the end of the exchange program.

Application deadline
- 1st semester: For enrollment commencing between April and September, application must be made by early November of the previous year
- 2nd semester: For enrollment commencing between October of the year following application and March of the coming year, application must be made by the end of March.
Notification of in-campus screening results
Screening results will be informed to applicants through the school they applied.
- 1st semester: For enrollment commencing between April and September, results will be informed by early January.
- 2nd semester: For enrollment commencing between October of the year following application and March of the coming year, results will be informed early June.
