Osaka University Business Owner Action Plan (Next Generation Nurturing Support Measures Promotion Law)

Osaka University was recognized as meeting the standards for next generation nurturing support measures promotion law.

Osaka University has supported balancing work and family by establishing a business owner action plan based on the law regarding the Welfare of Workers performing care of family members, including Work Leave for Nursing care and Child-rearing enacted in July 2003.

The university achieved the goals set in the business owner action plan for the period from April 2005 to March 2010 and applied for being reviewed by the Osaka Labor Bureau. The university was certified as a business owner conforming to the standards in June 2010.

Thus, Osaka University can use the accreditation mark, Kurumin on publications prepared by the university.

The action plan briefly outlined below will be implemented over the next five years, beginning from April 1, 2015.

Content of the 3rd Business Owner Action Plan

Goal 1: Giving workers full access to information about systems for supporting their child-rearing and care for family members
Specific measures:

  • Examine concrete measures for promoting public relations such as putting information on its webpages and preparing leaflets regarding systems for supporting workers performing child-rearing and caring for family members and their work-family balance.
  • Improve the content of the Guidelines for Supporting Development of Future Generations and update information in the leaflet. Review how to inform workers of the guidelines.
  • Provide information by setting up an information corner and a consultation space at the Gender Equality Promotion Office (from April 2016: Center for Gender Equality Promotion).

Goal 2: Set up childcare centers for taking care of sick children and children in the recovery phase in order to support workers' work-life balance
Specific measures:

  • Set up childcare centers for taking care of sick children and children in the recovery phase
  • Consider improvement as needed depending on user numbers and opinions

Goal 3: Implement approaches for supporting faculty and staff members performing child-rearing and nursing care of family members
Specific measures:

  • Continue to implement the researcher support system while improving it and examine new support measures for assisting workers develop their career
  • Promote changes in the awareness of workers by holding symposiums and seminars

Osaka University will continue to work on improving its working environment in order to promote the work-life balance of its employees.
