Teaching Certificate Renewal Course

Information for Applicants

Teaching certificate renewal course

Following the revision of teaching certificate regulations in June 2007, a teaching certificate renewal system was introduced in 2009. Under the revised teaching certificate regulations, the validity of teaching certificates is now limited to 10 years. Teachers who received a certificate prior to the introduction of this new system are also now required to complete renewal courses every 10 years. The content of the renewal courses consists of 12 hours or more of mandatory topics and 18 hour or more of elective topics. Teaching certificate renewal courses must be completed prior to the end of one's 10-year certification period.
Osaka University will provide short, intensive certificate renewal courses with significant content. The courses cover the 12 hours of mandatory topics and also provide 6 hours of elective topics. The quota for each course is 30.
