Institute for Transdisciplinary Graduate Degree Programs

As part of graduate school education reform initiatives, Osaka University has promoted five Programs for Leading Graduate Schools adopted in 2011.

On August 1, 2018, Osaka University established the Institute for Transdisciplinary Graduate Degree Programs with the purposes of improving and reforming its graduate school education and nurturing individuals with transcultural communication skills who can work on innovation through co-creation with society in a global arena. Osaka University will realize these goals by continuously achieving significant results in human resource development through the Programs for Leading Graduate Schools and by promoting interdisciplinary degree programs to respond to social changes and the development of new academic fields.

As a hub for graduate school education reform, the Institute for Transdisciplinary Graduate Degree Programs will improve the quality of education through:

(1)  Development of degree programs for nurturing individuals who can create innovation to solve social issues with their professional expertise and degree programs for developing individuals who can build the foundation for innovation, and

(2)  Management of the overall degree programs in which several schools participate in an integrated fashion in cooperation with related organizations.

Through these efforts, Osaka University will produce next-generation individuals with doctoral degrees who can contribute to society and solve complex issues with a global perspective on a university-wide basis.
